Paul Nicholas
Principal Security Strategist, Microsoft, USA.


Mr. Nicholas leads Microsoft’s Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Program which focuses on driving strategic change, both within Microsoft and externally, to advance infrastructure security and resiliency. His team addresses global challenges related to CIP including risk management, incident response, emergency communications, and information sharing.

Prior to joining the company he spent over 8 years in the federal government focusing on emerging threats and homeland/national security issues. From 2002-2004, he served as a Director for Critical Infrastructure Protection on the White House Homeland Security Council. Mr. Nicholas also served as a senior policy advisor for Unites States Senator Robert F. Bennett and a staff member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Technology Terrorism and Government Information. He also was an assistant director for the U.S. Government Accountability Office performing CIP related oversight. He earned a B.A. from Indiana University and M.A. from Georgetown University. He currently resides in the Washington State.
